Formed from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, the PUH Creative Strategy Team shared a vision for creating a platform to support businesses to showcase their products to provide an opportunity to experience hybrid retail – online and on the high street.
The Covid-19 pandemic affected a wide range of businesses but one positive trend from the crisis was a surge in new businesses. Pop Up Horsham creates an ideal opportunity to support those who have been made redundant and started a new business within the past eighteen months. As well as working with more established independents and small businesses whatever the background, including those within the travel, entertainment, well-being, or hospitality industries. The initiative aims to support those trying to grow their business. Pop Up Horsham is funded, backed, and run by Horsham District Council.
Pop Up Horsham Project Manager, Charley Crocker believes the combination of providing shop floor retail opportunities, coupled with creating a supportive network of other like-minded start-ups and businesses, coupled with one-to-one personal mentoring provides a strong platform.
Charley, said: “We are hugely excited about this project which is utilising our biggest shop space to date at West Street. Following the success of Pop Up Horsham in 2015, which supported 28 new businesses to experience high street retail, we are delighted to be back for 2021/22.”
“We have been overwhelmed by the volume of inquiries and the talent of so many small businesses and entrepreneurs. Each has its own unique stories and products to offer.”
“We aim to prove the benefits of what we can offer with a view to this being the future of high street retailing. All businesses onboard will receive support and advice from Enterprise Nation and we are working to facilitate workshops with further business information and support as well as contacts with independent landlords if business owners want to take the next steps following Pop Up Horsham.”
Creative Strategy Consultant, and owner of Go Plan B, Laura Bennett joined the Pop-Up Horsham Project team to provide support with drumming up interest from local businesses to take the next steps as well as promoting the wider objectives via PR and social media.
Laura said: “It’s extremely daunting for businesses to take the leap to run a shop, dealing with staffing, merchandising, finances, etc. Pop Up Horsham provides a welcoming, affordable and supportive environment to test the water.” – http://www.goplanb.co.uk.
