New Pop-Up Shop Initiative is preparing to pop up in Leatherhead
Pop Up Leatherhead is preparing to launch in mid-March 2022 to support new businesses to experience high street retail. The Swan Centre pop-up shop was initiated by Mole Valley District Council and is being delivered by The Pop Up Shop Agents which is formed of three small businesses, Go Plan B, BlueFlameDesign, and Charley Crocker.
The Leatherhead store is being funded by the council as part of its Economic Recovery Strategy and is being part-financed by the Government’s Welcome Back Fund, itself drawn from the European Regional Development Fund.
Pop Up Leatherhead will provide the opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs to dip their toes into high street retailing. Developing from each Pop-Up Store, The Pop Up Shop Agents, offer bespoke packages from conception and beyond, from recruiting sellers, store managers, managing finances and legislation through to marketing, branding, social media, and PR. Building a pop-up shop community from each empty store and concrete floor and transforming vacant units into fully functioning successful stores.
The Covid 19 pandemic has dramatically changed businesses and lives and we have changed the way we shop. Reflecting on these changes, The Pop Up Shop Agents are reinventing and rejuvenating local high streets and giving small businesses the opportunity to experience hybrid retail – online and on the high street. Working with a huge range of people who have been made redundant and started a new business and are looking at ways to grow their sales or test new products.
The Pop Up Shop Agents founder and Principal Agent, Charley Crocker, said: “We have grown and built upon every pop-up store we have created, both within our team and our offering, to develop a community within a store that provides a supportive and safe space for all our sellers, but we have also significantly expanded our offering to include additional services such as business mentoring, workshops, branding, PR, Marketing and social media support. With some of our stores receiving not only local PR coverage, but also national with a number of appearances on the BBC.”
Charley added: “The Pop Up Shop Agents have a simple mission: to support small businesses to showcase their products and to provide an opportunity to experience hybrid retail – online and on the high street.”

Go Plan B collaborates with small businesses to deliver Pop Up Horsham
Pop Up Horsham was funded, backed, and run by Horsham District Council offered small businesses in and around the district the opportunity to dip their toes into the world of High Street retailing. The Pop Up Creative Management Team who delivered the store are independent Consultants Charley (Daisy White), Laura Bennett (Go Plan B ), and Matt Bennett (BlueFlameDesign).
Creative Strategy Consultant Laura Bennett from Go Plan B, adds: ‘Pop Up Horsham is especially keen to help those who have been made redundant and started a new business within the past eighteen months. As well as working with more established independents and small businesses whatever the background, including those within the travel, entertainment, well-being, or hospitality industries. The initiative aims to support those trying to grow their business whether it be working around family commitments, a full-time job, or supporting those who are struggling to gain confidence to take their products out onto the high street.’
Go Plan B created website and marketing content, media, marketing, and social media plans to deliver the shop from concept to launch which also included the creation of three social media walls in the store to support organic sharing on social media platforms and to attract attention. Creating additional opportunities for promotion in-store, planning areas for sellers, supporting businesses coming on board, creating email content, supporting sellers coming on board, planning other sellers to come in, and a launch event plan.
The successful launch event saw a range of media which included BBC’s The One Show as well as creating a Horsham District Council opening event. The successful social media launch plan included establishing platforms and engaging with businesses prior to the website and shop plan to promote its launch which received more than 13.5k followers ahead of launch and a successful website that continued to grow in reach even when the store closed at the end of its three-month term.
